Francis editor notes duties for Gravity town readers. Warm spell boosted corn growth, most now frost safe. Fall plowing progresses. ground excellent for field work. Heavy rains aided newly planted trees from last spring and strawberry beds, with good growth seen. protection from rabbits recommended before winter.
A large group from here traveled to Bedford Thursday evening for lodge work in the third degree. Grand Master Peters of Clarinda led with several Clarinda brethren assisting. Attendees included many lodges from across the region.
Members of the Rebekah Lodge and their families held a park picnic Sunday enjoying outdoor fellowship and a meal together in bright spring weather.

L E Phillips and wife of Bartlesville spent time in Bedford with relatives at Ray Walker’s home then with brothers Frank and Ed who flew to Des Moines and returned to Creston. They toured Conway and Gravity cemetery placing flowers on their parents’ graves and discussed early life in Oklahoma oil family Phillips Petroleum.
Mr and Mrs Blacketer of Lincoln Nebraska left for home Monday after visiting their daughter Mrs Dwight Hargadjin and family Mrs A J Martin of Cody Wyoming visited Friday evening with Mr and Mrs John Stephene

El Crowe and his family joined relatives at Mrs Ida Piper's home for a birthday dinner held Sunday.
Russell Ackley of Decatur traveled with his mother Mrs Jim Ackley and Mrs Bert Pierce to Omaha on Friday to visit, returning Sunday. Accompanied by twelve relatives and friends they enjoyed a picnic at Carter Lake.
Mesdames G E Smith Oliver Posten and Earl King and Mad eline Smith of Shenandoah spent Monday in Des Moines. They were accompanied by Mrs A W Bender of Grant who met them at Corning.
Orville Jefferies and family of Bedford visited with the Horace Beemer family Sunday evening. Mr and Mrs Roy Nelson of Lenox visited with Me and Mrs Ed Lock, Sunday evening. LeRoy Johson and family visited with relatives at Hopkins, Missouri, Sunday. Mr and Mrs Jerry Johnson and Ivan Johnson left Wednesday for Montrose, Colorado. Earl King, wife, Bob and Quentin, accompanied by Bruce and Talton Hicks drove to Iowa City Sunday. Bob King and Bruce Hicks remained and will enter Iowa State University for their Sophomore year. Mrandre Hart Sturm, and Howard Sturm and family visited Sunday with T. J. Sturm at Sharpsburg.
Mr and Mrs Toby Carson and Kay of Shenandoah visited Sunday with Mrs Carson's mother, Mrs W L Chenitler.
Mr and Mrs Evan Savage and their young son from Paols Kansas arrived Monday morning. They will spend a week visiting his parents Mr and Mrs Glen Savage and the parents of Mrs Savage, Mr and Mrs P A Price. News note from local social column.
