Very much alive Charles P Nevin after mistaken death on train
Charles P Nevin of Butte was declared dead after a man with his ticket died on a Los Angeles bound train. A conductor misread the body transfer outcome and Nevin, who survived, sent a humorous telegram recounting the farcical mix up with his supposed demise. He charmed friends with the joke and promised to return for the winter frost.

Montana man seeks state flower switch to kinnikinnick
L B Tipling of Helena proposes changing Montana's state flower from bitter root to the kinnikinnick. He argues the bitter root is scarce outside Bitter Root valley Missoula and a few spots, while the kinnikinnick grows statewide and is striking when in bloom with dark green leaves and bright red berries. He suggests a statewide referendum via the next legislature to gauge public preference.
