Early settler John Hoxie remembered as Pioneer farmer

John Hoxie aged 12 died at his farm home three miles west of Traverse City. Born in Albery Vermont in 1880 he served in Company E 106 N Y infantry during the Civil War and after moving to Traverse City became a carpenter for Perry Hannah. He later bought the farm west of the city where he lived forty years. Survived by his daughter Mrs A W Nelson and preceded by his wife and a son.
