VA ruling on veteran tuition payments clarified
The Veterans Administration attributed a mis understanding within its accounting office to paying higher tuition rates for veterans. Administrator Carl Gray ruled the VA can pay non resident or adjusted tuition even if state law restricts charges, a decision that addresses prior challenges by Comptroller General Lindsay Warren. The decision rests on GI Bill rules and states that state law should not bind the VA’s payment authority for veterans education.
