Chicago Exposition Portrait of a Growing Metropolis
A lengthy 1938 promotional piece extols Chicago as a vibrant center of growth with quick strides from frontier outpost to world city. It highlights architecture, museums, parks, libraries, academia, industry, and culture, naming sites like the Art Institute, Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium, Museum of Science and Industry, and Newberry Library while tracing the city’s development from 1833 to its current 210 square miles and 3.35 million inhabitants.
