Spies and Son Build Large Temporary Corn Crib
Work began last week on a new temporary corn crib at J A Spies farm in Graettinger as 7500 bushels fill the first layer three feet high. An elevator dumps corn into the crib powered by electric motor. The structure is ruggedly built with heavy posts timbers and cross bracing and wire cribbing to withstand wind. When filled to the peak the crib will hold over 6000 bushels and the roof will protect against moisture. A companion oats bin may follow in a couple of months as corn supplies remain ample for filling the crib.
