Witchcraft and superstition linger in 19th century views
The piece surveys belief in witchcraft across societies, noting tolerant yet fearful attitudes in Europe, the United States, and Africa. It cites Pow Wow doctors in Pennsylvania and a 1820 John Hohman book as influential, and warns against modern complacency toward superstition while urging education to dispel fear. It also includes a legal notice about renewing incorporation for Lost Island Creamery Company in Iowa.
