Reed Young of the Gus Mathiesen farm was struck by a 3 45 passenger train while helping haul shelled corn near Lake Park. He died almost instantly as workers unloaded at the elevator.
A crossing accident near Rock Island yards kills Mr. Young, about 35, as a branch engine backs toward a wagon. The collision throws him 75 feet, breaking both arms and shoulders. he dies shortly after. His wife and one child are left, and both horses are killed. Report from Lake Park News.
