Gladewater firemen responded to two house fires this week both noted as light damage. A Roden Lane blaze at 10 54 p m Monday stemmed from a loose wall outlet contact. A S Ed wards Street fire Tuesday 11 25 p m involved burning rags used to kill mosquitoes by the homeowner. A cafe car fire on Highway 80 West 6 30 p m Saturday began with a backfire in the carburetor damaging wiring and hood paint. A woods and grass fire on W Shepperd with unknown cause was reported at 9 02 p m Monday. Police reported a quiet weekend with a Tyler man jailed 11 44 p m Saturday for attempted vehicle theft at a highway 271 south lounge. A minor two car wreck occurred Monday at Highway 80 and 271 with no injuries or tickets listed. The theft of four tapes and linens from a parked car at a lounge was reported at midnight.
