Sawyer Blalock vows set for Friday evening

TARS Enjoy Busy Summer Activities in Gladewater
The Gladewater TARS held a busy summer with a hayride and watermelon feast for 35 attendees. Members toured Hope Cottage day care for severely retarded children in Gregg County accompanied by advisor Mrs. Maleta Blessing. They plan a rum mage sale August 7 to 12 at 125 S Main St to raise funds for needy handicapped children. The club also shifted meeting nights to the first and third Tuesdays at 7 p.m. in the high school Fine Arts building.

Supper in county Park honors Grimes family
About sixty people attended a church supper at County Park on July 25 honoring the Billy Grimes family. Rev. Grimes led the Nazarene church through growth and a new building. Gifts for the Grimes, including china and stainless ware, were presented along with special gifts for Danny and Sammy. A separate note reports Paul Wells’ surprise birthday dinner at the I. W. Duncan home in Greggton with family. Also USDA projects a 25 percent rise in chicken consumption this decade, up to 50 lbs per capita, highlighting chicken as affordable protein.
