Fence repair funding waits for federal help after Kansas fire

Ranchers in Barber and Comanche counties seek federal cost share through the Emergency Conservation Program to cover up to 75 percent of fence rebuilding costs from the Anderson Creek Fire. Funds are currently exhausted but expected to be replenished. applications are ranked by the local FSA board. The fire, the largest in Kansas history, burned nearly 400,000 acres across several counties and damaged extensive pasture fencing.
