Wauseon Public Schools began the new term amid full staffing in the high school and grades after tense days. First day enrollment reached 200 in the high school, with about a quarter from out of town, and total enrollment for the day around 402.

Auto crash on highway near Napoleon injures families
A serious two buggy crash occurred Saturday night near Napoleon when Walter McLain, blinded by headlights from an overtaking car, struck two oncoming buggies. In the first buggy Mr. and Mrs. John Swin were hurt, and Mrs. Swin may die. The Kneppers and their three daughters suffered cuts and a concussion. McLain and both buggies were damaged.
