Lake Shore freight wreck near Stryker kills fireman

Grover Mercer of Elkhart Indiana died in a Lake Shore Railway accident at Stryker Ohio while Peter D Maher the engineer was seriously injured. The engine and work train overturned after the tender left the track. Mercer was killed instantly and Maher scalded but expected to recover after hospital treatment. Traffic was halted for about two hours.

Post Honors Comrade at Sixty Ninth Birthday Farm Visit

Lo Sure Post No. 35 G. A. R. held a full day with a birthday event for Rev. Wharton at the Clingaman home two miles north of Wauseon. A caning ceremony, a dinner, and speeches followed, with two new members mustered. The post reflected on Ex Governor Harris and prepared resolutions. delegates prepared for the Washington national encampment and the anniversary of the Grand Review. Swanton band to give a concert in Wauseon Monday evening. Annual Missionary Meeting of Congregational church held with Mrs. Lydia Lord Davis speaking and a $50 offering.

Five Numbers Highlight Redpath Lyceum High School Course

The High School lecture course features five Redpath numbers under the Senior Class, including two musical programs, two lectures, and one entertainment. Wells Watson Ginn opens October 7 with The Man From Home impersonation, followed by the Mauer Sisters October 22, Montracille Wood debuts December 1 with scientific demonstrations, Dr. E. T. Hagerman lecturing February 29, and the Kelley-Haines Singing Party closing March 20. Season tickets cost $1.25 for adults, with reserved seats sold at Fink and Haumesser's Drug Store three days prior to each event.
