County Fair 1945 a Rainy Yet Rewarding History

Red River apple weighs 1.5 pounds from Pike township
A large Red River apple, grown on Frank La Selle’s farm in Pike township, was delivered to the Tribune by Emmet La Salle. The fruit measures 15.5 by 16 inches, weighs 1.5 pounds, and is bright red shading to creamy pink. Emmet notes other apples on the tree are similarly large.
