Swanton Man Dies After Balcony Fall At Swanton

William Patton aged 63 died from injuries after falling from a balcony on a livery building in Swanton last Thursday. He was taken to Wauseon hospital with a fractured skull, both arms broken, and the left ear severed, dying at 11 15 Saturday night. The body went to Ives Edgar Pike for burial preparations and to Mrs. M. J. Patton of Holland for the funeral. Patton was a single carpenter in the Swanton area.

Grand Review Golden Anniversary Encampment in Washington

Forty ninth annual Grand Army of the Republic encampment in Washington D C runs Sept 27 to Oct 3 to mark the 50th Grand Review and last public parade of Civil War veterans. Only G A R members will participate and veterans hope to attend in large numbers despite rising death rates. President Wilson will witness the parade with cabinet members.
