Wauseon Boys Camp Opens at Wolf Lake Michigan

The Wauseon boys camp at Wolf Lake Michigan will open next week with about fifteen youths occupying tents. This marks the sixth year the Wauseon group has camped there and the stories of camp life help keep older fellows eager for a few days of recreation. Save the Babies Campaign Urges Rural Relief for Toledo Infants

Scores of babies in Toledo districts die each summer from heat and poor living conditions. Dr J W Iferd urges two weeks out in the country to save many lives, aided by the Child Welfare department and health board. The Tribune and Toledo Times back the Save A Baby drive, coordinating with welfare and health officials to place infants in country homes.

Wauseon Library Adds Many New Books To Reference and Fiction

The Wauseon Public Library reports a major enrichment through gifts and purchases. Nineteen volumes from the U S Industrial Commission report 1900 1901 arrive, plus new encyclopedias year books and fiction for adults and youths. The additions include travel stories biographies travel guides and many popular works by Hodgson Sturgis and others. A list of adult fiction and young people titles follows with authors such as Churchill Doyle Kipling and Burgess among others.

Fire wipes Ridgeville Corners off map in blaze

Fire destroyed ten business buildings and a residence in Ridgeville Corners after a blaze started late Monday. A dozen structures burned, including two hardware stores and a furniture shop, with about 60,000 dollars in losses and limited insurance coverage. Delays in fire response and lack of water intensified the disaster.

A SANE FOURTH PARTY VISITS RIDGEVILLE CORNERS

A large group of 51 Wauseon citizens including the Mayor traveled by car to the Maumee, camped at Bortles Grove, and visited the Ridgeville Corners fire scene. They returned by three o clock, dined with Dr. A J Kline, and ended the evening with fireworks on Oak street. No injuries were reported and participants described a good time.

South Side Storm Knocks Out Telephones In Town

A brief south side gale caused trees to fall on Superior and West Leggett streets, breaking poles and severing electric and telephone lines for days. An S O S was sent to George Hallouer, who was at Round Lake for the Fourth. North of the Lake Shore tracks saw no major damage. Rorick Family Reunion held in Morenci with about one hundred attendees. Meetings, music, and recitations accompanied by elected officers and future entertainment plans.

County bridges contracted to three firms in bid opening

On Tuesday the county commissioners awarded four bridges to Albert Mengerink of Napoleon and one each to Ohio Concrete Supply of Fremont for bridge 299 and Zeller and Drom of Swanton for bridge 296 after bids as lowest and best. On Wednesday bids for $48000 in road-improvement bonds were awarded to Ohio National Bank of Columbus with a premium of 498.25 per bond. Montpelier opens a weekday playground with a supervisor and helper for children under sixteen, with a formal dedication on Friday May 8.
