France Recognizes Gen Wrangel As South Russia Leader
The French government says it will recognize General Baron Wrangel as head of the de facto government in southern Russia. France also pledged limited concessions to the Bolshevik regime in exchange for assurances on Russia’s future actions, while Britain’s prime minister noted Paris’s move with concern. French officials clarified the action at the Hythe Conference, stressing divergent wartime aims between France and the UK. The move follows Wrangel’s anti Bolshevik campaign north of the Black Sea and signals a push to influence the174 regional balance after the collapse of the czarist order.

Rhodes Scholars Aid Russian Prisoners of War in Germany
A group of Rhodes scholars from Oxford has arrived in Berlin to assist in the M. G. A. relief effort for Russian POWs held in German camps. They will work at various camps where about 175,000 Russians await repatriation ships. Many are starving, ill, or insane after years of confinement. Camp officials pay small amounts, not enough for necessities, and outside work is scarce. One Russian worker lost his shoes after two weeks with a peasant and was charged for his board.
