Fulton Honor Roll and War Subscription Report

Fulton County reports most districts have won the honor seal in the Third Liberty Loan drive. Harris announced county subscriptions exceed 730,000 with a 200,000 shortfall still ahead. A Reformed Mennonite church pledge notes loyalty and cooperation, refusing bonds but promising 4 percent of remaining funds for relief.

Wauseon Teacher Sechrist Called to Induction

Mr. Ivan Sechrist, longtime science teacher and athletics leader at Wauseon High School, received notice to report for military service at Camp Sherman. He was honored with a wrist watch and farewell by faculty and students as the school community faces his departure and reorganization of teaching duties.

Yeager Brothers in France and Navy Tour

Clarence and Robert Yeager, first class musicians in the U S Navy, report from France after a three week absence. They describe rough seas and rescued by destroyers, shore liberty in a city with Caesar’s castle, and meeting Mrs John Jacob Astor who praised their performance.

Wauseon High Represented in Sachem Club Extempore Event

Herman Wallace named representative for Wauseon High School in the second annual Sachem Club extempore contest at Western Reserve University in Cleveland. The event Friday April 26 features six minute speeches on themes such as Americanization and Prohibition with several area high schools competing for a silver loving cup and gold silver bronze pendants for top finishers. A second item notes Mead A Dangler U S Navy writes from Hancock urging Liberty Bond subscriptions as Wauseon tops 140000 in the drive, with Daughters of the American Revolution meeting May 9 at 130 Superior Street East to elect officers and plan events.

Detroit man reports for Army training at Camp Custer

Harry Orndorf of Detroit visited his parents Mr. and Mrs. Knight returning from Detroit. He arrived last Tuesday evening and left Tuesday afternoon. He will go to Camp Custer Friday to begin his military training in the National Army.
