Visitors from Wauseon report on Camp Sherman and the Hard Division review during Liberty Loan week. Families met Wauseon soldiers including Corporal Collins and Ser. Te, with transfer rumors and overseas orders possible. Community events include a benefit sale for the W M A at A O Keefer’s home on April 7 and a Grange Hall meeting to select a county farm committee.

Fulton County Dry Federation forms executive and central committees

The Fulton County Dry Federation completes its countywide organization for the 1918 campaign. Key officers include Chairman George F. Hull and Secretary C. C. Smith with Treasurer M. W. Casler, all Delta residents. The Executive committee lists Archield E. Watkins and others. The Central Committee comprises precinct chairmen from Clinton to York North, plus county agents and club members.

Methodist Revival Gains Momentum in Wauseon

In Wauseon the Methodist revival accelerates with women's societies and Saturday night classes while Men’s meetings resume at 7 p.m. for all local men. A past week women’s meeting, a gospel message to men, and a choir program from May 5 kickoff a summer of combined services from 10 to 11 30 held at the chapel amid congregational call to faith and reform.

Fulton County Passes $900000 in Liberty Loan Subscriptions

Fulton County reports subscriptions exceeding 900000 to the Third Liberty Loan. Chairman Harris praises patriotism and notes that the county’s contributions would fund shells, tanks, submarines, kitchens, balloons, hospitals, and even an aviation training school. He commends most citizens while acknowledging a few dissenters.

Eat Potatoes Now and Save Wheat for Troops

Wartime call urges Ohio residents over six to eat three extra potatoes daily and cut bread by three slices to move surplus. If 5 million people participate, potato consumption would rise by over 3.28 million pounds daily and bread savings reach 1.25 million loaves. Potatoes spoil if unused and waste would hurt farmers and future supply.

Wauseon Unit forms wartime council committee structure

Local women organized a Wauseon unit of the Council of National Defense with Mrs. Charles Stotzer as permanent chair and committees in Food Conservation Child Welfare Educational Propaganda and more. They plan to push the Potato Campaign, address wheat substitute prices, and support wartime measures. Fulton Grange notes progress and future meetings. A seed corn shipment from Toledo arrives for orders at the First National Bank with price 4.60 per bushel and additional War Emergency seed corn at 5.00 per bushel plus express.

Defenseless Mennonite Church Members Support Third Liberty Loan

Defenseless Mennonite church members in Wauseon Ohio commit to full financial support for the Third Liberty Loan through representatives of the War Loan committee of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland. Religious scruples prevent bond purchases for war, but the plan allows co operation with the community and national proceeds. The effort receives church and national sanction and aims to be widely adopted. Also noted is Dr. O C Standish being approved for Y M C A war work and six local men leaving for military service in the May 1918 mobilization with assignments to Camp Green Leaf and related postings.

Farewell Letter from Rev J A Wharton in Wauseon

The Rev J A Wharton thanks friends in Wauseon and nearby towns for five years of pastoral service. He recalls 97 funerals 107 marriages and 120 baptisms while in office and announces May 12 as his departure date to Perryopolis Pa. He urges continued loyalty to his successor and to Christ and asks not for farewells but quiet passing on with lasting good deeds. He signs as A Wharton with best wishes for prosperity of the community. Quiet wedding unites Joseph Weber and Gladys Harrison

Last Tuesday evening at 9 at the Bowmans home on East Elm street a quiet wedding joined Joseph Weber and Gladys Harrison. Rev. Bowman officiated with a ring ceremony. After visits to Detroit and Windsor the couple will reside at 136 Marshall street Wauseon for friends.

Mae Marsh stars in The Wharf Rat a Sunday program while Fox presents Aladdin and the Wonderful Lamp in 10 parts on Tuesday eve. Admission is 10 to 20 cents. The Fox Kiddies feature precedes the main show.
