The council defeated the Cedar Street improvement ordinance by vacating lands on the west side and narrowing the street to 40 feet. J. Paxson was appointed city solicitor filling a vacancy. W. A. Hill resigned as councilman. E. F. Hanson appointed and sworn in. Spring cleanup set for April 29 and 30 with volunteers and street repairs planned, while sewer and drainage issues were referred to committees.

John Q Files Dies After Forty Years at Fulton Bar
John Q Files a Fulton County lawyer and longtime resident of Wauseon and Swanton died April 10 1918 after nearly four decades at the bar He served as Fulton County prosecuting attorney and held prominent roles in Masonic Blue Lodge Knights of Pythias Odd Fellows and other fraternal groups His career began in farming then law after studying under B T Geer He left a widow Mary Bowman and two daughters Kathryn and Florene and many colleagues who honored him with funeral services at the courthouse and a Pythian burial service

Mrs. Ephraim Gorsoo Aura Maria Candoleeny born September 14 1442 near Mik Leraville Holmes County Ghin died April 7 1918 aged 75 years six months after moving to Wauseon area she taught in country schools and joined the church at eighteen her life was spent in service. She married Ephraim Gor Gee in 1342 and left four sons Eawin L Nathan David W aged Franklin P and others.
