Jewel Tea Co Inc reports retail sales of 13 312 949 for the four weeks ended June 18 1949, up 1 606 434 or 19 74 from the same weeks a year earlier. For the first twenty four weeks of 1949 sales totaled 76 877 094, a 12 4 increase over 1948.
Forest Park Unit 414 of the American Legion Auxiliary held a June 1 meeting. Delegates elected to the convention were Ilda Lynch Ferne Liedke and Ada Goodman with alternates Ethyl Schlupp Bea Guthrie and Emma Courtney. Next meeting is July 19 with two in August. Prize winners included Sylvia Doudera Frieda Hinz. Hannah Adams born 1745 noted as first American woman to make literature a profession.
