Forest Park’s swimming pool with greatly improved facilities opened to the public last Sunday July 10 drawing a good crowd of young swimmers despite cool weather. Improvements included cleaning and extensive construction work with a enlarged deep section for divers four diving boards four platforms strong concrete steps and metal hand rails life posts separate shallow from deep area for safety.
Reverend Mark W Gress, pastor of Forest Park Methodist Church, will return to his pastorate Friday after completing the 75th Associate Basic Course at the Chaplain School of the Armed Forces Carlisle Barracks Pennsylvania. The Rock River Conference session reappointed him for another year to Forest Park Church and he will lead the 11 a.m. service on Sunday July 24.
Ronald Beck a 12 year old delivered papers to the rear door of 109 Rockford on July 6. While playing with a dog he was bitten on the foot and injured.
Forest Park playgrounds plan a Friday bus trip to the Museum of Science and Industry in Jackson Park. Chartered buses depart at 1 p.m. and return by 5 p.m. The trip is free for children, with multiple playgrounds listed as hosts.
Clare R Jager an officer at Forest Park National bank for six years resigns to open his own accounting firm in Chicago. He has 25 years in banking and previously worked with Federal Reserve and Oak Park National bank before joining Forest Park as vice president. The board and community express best wishes and regret.
Eugene Speck director of recreation at Forest Park will address the Forest Lions at the noon luncheon on Thursday July 21. His topic is Your Recreation Program and Its Future.
Forest Park village meeting opened with light business then sparked by Mrs. Jeris accusing Village Attorney Lestie Smith Jr. of raising ducks in his yard. Acting Mayor Bartz paused the feud and urged pap—er burning issue be handled by the street department. Agnes Dehn pressed sewer backups, Schulz cited unconnected pipes, Bartz estimated 150000 dollars to fix. no action taken.
The village will replace enamel damaged street signs across the area. Commissioner Martin A. Selulz announces the project will be done soon and the sign company will perform the work at no extra village cost.
Forest: park Ay 4344 hosts a community picnic this Sunday at Alten Horn Grove near Sou Line tracks Milisen. Gates open at 1 o'clock morning with day long amusements, contests, and dancing to Jack Liebler's orchestra from 6 40 to 10 30. Refreshments and dinners provided by the Ladies Auxiliary of Forest.
Stanley P. Kane of Forest Park sues the Chicago Transit Authority seeking 10000 in damages for injuries alleged when boarding an el train at Oak Park station between Marion Street and South Boulevard last October. Kane claims permanent injuries from the accident.
A 75 year old man, listed as Kruse, fell from a tree he was trimming in front of his home at 125 Rockford. He was taken to Oule Park for surgery and X rays after the incident on July 12.
