Jake Norris claimed the Peters Cup in the final trap shoot held last Friday after a weeks without practice. The event featured prelim winners with Norris finishing first at 89 points, followed by Kellar 85 Frederick 85 and Davis 85 in a close finish.

Drowning Tragedy Strikes Oleda Family Child Falls in Cistern

The three year old daughter of Bern Schocky and his wife fell into a cistern at the family home in Oleda Kansas last Wednesday and was drowned. The Schockys, long residents of Rule, mourn a sudden and awful bereavement surrounded by many friends.

Burglary Loot at Derby Saloon Estimated at Twenty Dollars

Burglars entered the Derby saloon last Thursday night and stole about twenty dollars in cash and a quantity of liquor. Police believe the thief hid in a closet until closing time, then escaped after the theft.

District Court Opens Next Week With New Divorce Case

District court will convene next Tuesday to start the term led by Judge Kelligar. Several cases are set for hearing with one new filing this week: Margaret C. Nofsinger seeks a divorce from Peter C. Nofsinger.

Tony Kuttler Convicted of The Clothes Theft

Tony Kuttler appeared before Judge Moran on a charge of stealing a suit from Roy Crawford and disposing of it at a local second hand store. He could not prove his innocence and was convicted, sentenced to thirty days in the county jail and to pay all costs.

Justice Department reports on Judge Tucker investigation

The Department of Justice has the investigation file on Judge Tucker with the U S Attorney General. The department declines to release facts now, but Thursday dispatches note that at least part of the charges have been sustained.

Elks Lodge Preparing Second Floor Fit Up

The Strong building second floor is being prepared for the Elks lodge. The rooms have been remodeled and decorated with furniture installed. A formal dedication is planned around September 15.

Citizens debate judge holding a girl on lap

Sunday morning a group discussed whether a judge should be censured for holding a pretty girl in his lap. Bob Cain favored adjournment and moving the matter to chambers, a view Judge Wilhite supported noting it had long been his practice.

Mrs. Cooper Burned in Gasoline Fire at Humboldt Home

Mrs O A Cooper wife of a leading Hum boldt grain dealer suffered serious burns when her clothing caught fire while using gasoline to burn worm nests in a nearby orchard. Family members aided with a blanket smothering the flames. Doctors expect recovery though it was a near fatal accident.

Furniture wagon derails after runaway team at Wahl building

A team moving the business college furniture fled Wednesday afternoon from the Wahl building alley. The wagon struck a telephone pole, stopping further progress and causing extensive damage to chairs, desks, and other items.

The Falls City Business College removed its furniture and fixtures from the Wahl building on Wil son street between First and Second. Prof. Barrett calls it a return home and anticipates a strong outlook with more students seeking business education as the new term opens on Monday September 11.

Salem man Eli Corn dies at 72 after long county life

Eli Corn a respected Salem resident died at his home last Saturday at age 72. He lived many years in the county, leaves a wife and nine children, and was a devout Christian since joining the church 35 years ago. Funeral held at Salem Christian church with Rev. Bonn. large attendance.

Local Socials Include Weddings Parties and Picnics

The C. KE girls of the Presbyterian church spent Tuesday at Sunny Springs with well filled baskets. On Wednesday evening at 8 30 Shelton and Isabelle Quiggle of Shubert were married by County Judge Wilhite. The Tribune extends congratulations. Maud Davis hosted an afternoon Kensington event with girl friends and refreshments. Mrs. D. D. Reavis entertained twenty five friends in honor of Misses Philena Yutzy and Grace Fenn with games and treats. Emma Baker hosted a six o clock dinner at Wm. Rieger’s for Miss Baker’s birthday. Episcopal Sunday school members held a picnic.

Will Holt Wins Big At State Fairs With Hogs

Will Holt tours state fairs with about twenty five hogs and gains ten premiums at Sedalia Missouri and fifteen premiums at Des Moines Iowa from seventeen entries. Falls City friends will be glad to hear of his success and he is expected to do well at remaining fairs.

Conference wants Falls City hosted M B E church meeting

The Nebraska conference of the M E church will meet in Falls City on September 19, 1905. About two hundred men are expected, and locals are asked to provide meals for forty five at once. Volunteers may notify the pastor or officials. Other local items note visits, church services, and a Duroc Jersey hog shipment to Shubert from Kansas.
