Humboldt Woman Edna Harding-Sterns Dies at Home
Mrs Edna Harding-Sterns died at her parents Humboldt home last Thursday after a life in Humboldt. She married Bernard Sterns in January 1905 and health declined after marriage, leading to a New Mexico trip for relief before returning home. Funeral services were held at the Harding home conducted by Rev Calvert with large attendance and burial in Humboldt cemetery. Also, infant William David Brown died at three and one half miles east of town from cholera infantum at eight months, two weeks, six days. funeral was held with Rev Mahler and Rev Kincaid assisting, burial in Rulo cemetery.

Horse Thieves Spur a Pair of Nebraska Thefts
Two horse thefts drew county attention this week. A pony owned by C D Grush disappeared from Salem Chautauqua grounds and later recovered near Auburn after a saddle sale. A reward of seventy five dollars was paid. A second theft occurred at Wm Haeffle’s Preston property. a posse recovered the horse within four hours and the Indian suspect was found insane and discharged after a preliminary hearing.

City Council Slates Water Cuts and Sprinkling Charge
A special council meeting was held on Wednesday evening. The Burlington railway company will be notified that after twenty days no water will be supplied from city mains. D. H. Harvey will be charged twenty cents per thousand gallons for water used in sprinkling the sheets. After minor matters, the council adjourned.

Barn Struck by Lightning Near City
During a Monday night thunderstorm the barn on Geo. Abbotts place northwest of the city was struck by lightning. Chas Stanton went to inspect the barn and was inside when the bolt hit. The shock toppled the horses to their knees but caused no material damage to the structure.

Fire destroys Middleburg general store
A blaze swept the Middleburg inland town general store south of Humboldt on Friday night. The origin is unknown. Proprietor Mr. Stauffer and his family, who occupied apartments in the building, escaped with difficulty as the structure and its contents were a total loss.

Mass Meeting Debates Water Bond Plans At Court House

A Monday thunderstorm damaged J C Tanner residence when lightning hit a clothes line sending charge to the house corner. Plaster torn from the kitchen wall and a mirror was broken. A comb case under the mirror caught fire but Mrs Tanner extinguished it.
