Davis Brecht wedding marks a refined June ceremony

Elizabeth Margaret Brecht married Charles Clay Davis on June 25 1907 at the Brecht home in the presence of near relatives and friends. Rev W T Cline officiated with Maude Davis at the piano Green's Till We Meet Again. The couple plan to settle in the city after a monthlong trip to Denver and Salt Lake City.

A Fourth of July Program At Holland Park

The L. B. T. club hosts a Holland Park July Fourth with a full schedule. From 6 a.m. salute and march to 4:20 p.m. balloon ascent and fireworks, the day features readings, songs, races, pole vaulting, a high dive, a grand bowl game for children, conundrums, and a fireworks finale under committee order.

Weed Cutting Notice by City Street Commissioner

Death of Hon. Julius Smith Shocks Friends and Kin

Obituary notes the sudden death of Julius Smith at his 320 acre Richardson County farm after a heart trouble. Born in Germany 1837 he emigrated to America at fourteen and settled in St. Joseph then Richardson County. He served in the legislature in 1890s and left a large family and a good name. Funeral drew a large crowd from the Gospel Union church of Salem.

Dinner party hosted for Mrs Crum and guests

W H Maddox and wife entertained twenty guests at a three course dinner last Saturday in Montpelier Indiana and Hastings guest Mrs Dietsch. Clever birthday surprise for Mrs Mossman attracts crowd

Mr Will Mossman planned a clever birthday surprise two and a half miles east of town. About forty five guests enjoyed games and outdoor sports late with excellent refreshments. all report a splendid time. Mrs Will Uhlig hosted a Kensington for Mrs Harry Morrow of Hutchison, Kansas. Twenty five ladies attended. Weather was delightful and spirits high. Mrs Allen May of Salem attended the party.

Austin Grush Hurt After Horse Kick Near Salem

Austin Grush was kicked by a horse last Friday while living between here and Salem. His left arm suffered a severe fracture below the elbow. Dr. Boose treated him and expects a full recovery without permanent damage to the arm.

Masonic Lodge Installations and Degree Conferral

The Masonic lodge installed officers for the coming year on Monday evening led by Worshipful Master R. P. Roberts with G. H. Fall stead as senior warden and S. H. Bayne as junior warden. On Tuesday A. N. Cook received the third degree in a special meeting followed by light refreshments. Meetings were well attended and reported as a good time.

Decorations Stolen After Party at Wall’s Hall

After a party hosted by Dr and Mrs Miner decor at Wall’s hall was looted last Friday night. Thieves took a large quantity of cut flowers from baskets and vases and the cards on the tables. Flowers were replaced from the greenhouse but no clue to the culprits exists.

Mrs Ada Wells Struck By Severe Stroke Early This Week

Mrs. Ada Wells suffered a stroke Wednesday morning and was found unconscious in her home. She remains in a serious condition with life despaired of, though she showed some improvement by Thursday morning and was able to speak.
