Bill Houston hosted Miss Apperson of Tecumseh Friday evening. About twenty five C E Presbyterians enjoyed a park picnic Saturday with a fine lunch. Mrs Ed Fisher hosted the Young Married Ladies Ken sington club yesterday with good time and refreshments. M E Kensington met Miss Myrtle Ramel and was assisted by Emma Shaible and Mrs Jake Shaible. Kensington meets Mrs KR Roberts next Friday July 10 with cordial invitation. Kaffe Klatsch club met with Miss Helen Martin twelve ladies attended and refreshments were served. Irene Wachtel hosted a Saturday picnic with supper on the lawn and fireworks. Mr and Mrs W E Dorrington entertained Judge Reavis and family for John Dorrington from Arizona. A lawn picnic and lunch baskets yielded a glorious Fourth. K K X club enjoyed a lakes outing with baskets. Woman’s Auxiliary St Thomas church plans regular meeting with Mrs John Crook and Japan lesson led by Mrs O Schoenheit. Mrs S L Davies hosted Elizabeth Miller’s visit with a surprise evening of music and refreshments.

Mound City Loses to Falls City 7 to 0 in Lopsided Game

Despite flooding, Fourth of July crowds filled streets, with fireworks, a torpedo shattered plate glass in Hal Burris' store, and many attended regional events while post office and banks closed. A special train to Humboldt carried about 200 passengers, and citizens plan chautauqua time and continued celebrations in nearby towns.

Pool hall passes to new Sterling proprietor

The Falls City and Highland teams each won a game in Humboldt on the Fourth. Highland strengthened with Wakefield and other new men. Morning game ended 3 to 2 in favor of Highland with Pryor strong for Falls City. Afternoon crowd, Schmelzer pitched well as Falls City won 6 to 0.

Gentry born July 27 1842 in Madison County Kentucky died June 24 1937 in Richardson County Nebraska aged 92 years 10 months and 27 days He moved with his parents to Andrew County Missouri later to Doniphan County Kansas and to Richardson County Nebraska in 1886 He married Martha Garner March 21 1861 They had nine children seven sons and two daughters one son died in childhood Survived by wife Martha three brothers and three sisters He was described as a kind patient man whose family and community will miss him greatly.
