Variety of Society Entertains In Local Clubs Churches
Mrs. D. M. Davies hosted a six o'clock dinner Friday for Miss Elizabeth Miller of Lincoln with eight guests. Junior Society and Presbyterian Cradle Roll praised a Tuesday afternoon gathering at Mable Greenwald's home. The Presbyterian church plans a 15¢ supper next Tuesday from 5 to 7 PM at Mrs. A. Graham's home. Highlanders are invited to a lodge meeting with initiation and social time. Ladine Plege hosted twenty-two young friends for her fifth birthday with gifts and refreshments. Book Worm club held a Turkish lesson in the library with Turkish costumes and floor seating. Womans Auxiliary of St. Thomas met at Mrs. Himmelreich's with Proverbs quotes and papers. Book Worm members met at C. Heineman's and traveled to Maddox farm for a campfire breakfast. W R C and G A R chartered hacks to L. J. Hitchcock's farm for a day of picnics with Mrs. Hitchcock’s Salem guests. Elizabeth Carney attended from Western and John Oswald arranged a photo for posterity.

Demijohn Incident Sparks Quick Rescue at Depot
Joe Varner encountered a demijohn on the express at the depot. The cork flew out and the contents, acid used in testing cream, splashed Mr. Warner but did not injure him. Jim Pickett provided a new outfit to help Joe recover his spruced appearance. Joe vows to avoid handling the express in the future.

Fred Nettlebeck Sets Record From Manitou To Pike's Peak
