Falls City residents are urged to join a citywide clean-up on Tuesday April 28 to tidy yards alleys and vacant lots. The mayor pledges city crews will assist and stresses the effort is vital for public health.
A city council meeting discussed asking the county board for permission to erect a supply tank on the courthouse square. The county would lease it if the city provides free water for the jail and courthouse life of the lease. The editors question practicality and aesthetics and suggest alternatives.
On Monday evening the local lodge marks the 90th anniversary of American Odd Fellowship at their hall. All Odd Fellows Rebekahs and widows of deceased Odd Fellows and their families are invited. Exercises begin at 8 o clock.
While tending a mule on a northwest farm last Friday, Herman Beachy was kicked on the ankle by the animal, breaking the bone. He will be housebound for some time but vows vengeance on the mule.

Johnson, jailed for burglary, was found sawing bars and had tools hidden in shoe soles. He used a burned chair leg as a tool handle, and authorities note outside help and repeated tampering at the north jail window. Sheriff Fenton and Deputy McFarland monitor the case as new security measures rise.
Reverend R. R. Teeter will preach next Sunday evening on The Other Side. His morning subject is Master of the Situation. All are welcome, and a large audience is anticipated.
In April 1476 Falls City felt a severe quake that rattled cupboards and moved furniture. A sick writer nearby recalls a house collapse during the tremor. The same date saw a notable lawsuit with Judge Schoenheit and lawyers riding a lumber wagon to Justice Cooley’s farm. Also, Mrs. Bert Wright returned to Kansas City after a visit with her mother.
The Woman's club met Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. Dr. Wilson as hostess. Maud Davies spoke on the Dirbank cactus and Luther Burbank’s work, followed by a discussion of trees and plants and an oratorio paper. An impromptu musical program closed the meeting.
City marks Arbor Day with limited events as public schools skip elaborate programs. Shakespeare Club with Mayor Barrett and Officer Marts plants a tree at the park. Col Satterwhite leads eleven telephone company workers planting a tree for shade. Ladies Aid Society of the MKE church plants trees around the building. Citizens plant trees and shrubs at the park, though some names are unrecorded. Dr. Wolfe and wife visited relatives in Humboldt.
Brock and Miss L Watson of Hamlin Kansas plan a wedding Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church Leonard LL Brock and Miss L Watson listed as couple.
Wednesday at noon in Salem, Zula M McCool daughter of Mr and Mrs W C McCool and sister of Mrs Robert Rule marries Mr Curtiss son of the Rev Hiram Curtiss. The ceremony officiated by Rev G A Martin followed by a reception then travel to Dawson on the B and M train. A large crowd witnessed the event and extended congratulations. Mrs Lydia Sperry ill. Several local notes and items follow including Easter greetings, roadster breeders, and Blind Boone at Drake University. Gebling April 80th.
Thomas H. Fitton died in Florence Colorado after over two months of stomach and liver trouble. A longtime Falls City resident known as Tom he helped the town’s development before moving to Beatrice and later Florence. His funeral was held in Beatrice with Odd Fellows in charge. He leaves a widow and one son and was a respected member of the community and the Odd Fellows lodge.

The drainage board remains in session between here and Salem aiming to complete their classification by May first. The meeting notable for its session with the railroad and county.
Former resident John Nulk now of Muskogee Oklahoma is seriously ill in Texas under care of a noted specialist. He and his wife are in Texas and friends here hope for his speedy full recovery.
