John Fairstead A Soldier Pioneer Passes At Eighty
John Fairstead born August 1 1827 near Meldorf Germany served six years in the German army. He came to America via New York then Michigan Indiana before settling near Falls City Nebraska in 1860. He enlisted in 1863 in the 2nd Nebraska Cavalry and was wounded in action. He married Elizabeth Pollard in 1867 and left four children. A recluse by nature but with a warm heart he died at eighty, leaving friends to mourn his memory.
