Members of St Thomas church quietly surprised Rev Neide and his wife last Thursday evening taking possession of their home to show appreciation for his service and Easter sermons. An inventory of gifts was later made, confirming the thoughtful tribute.
Pete the faithful horse that hauled Billy Moss’s delivery wagon for twenty years died last Friday. He was a familiar sight on street corners and his loss leaves Billy mourning one of the best horses known. Billy plans to find a replacement but says one Pete cannot be matched.
The article urges Falls City to form a baseball team, noting many nearby towns field teams. A local merchant offers to sponsor uniforms and with existing local talent like Tommy Glines and others, building a competitive squad seems feasible to provide entertainment and town visibility.
In a rare County Court action two school districts clashed over a mistaken payment. District 97 treasurer John Findlay ordered $106.65 from the county treasurer on February 7, 1905, but the sum was charged to district 91 and district 87 received the funds. District 91 sought repayment, district 97 resisted, and attorney John Wiltse secured a judgment of $116.00.

The Elks held a busy regular meeting on Friday evening initiating three new members. Victims named Jert Harris of Stella and Chester Fisher and Dan Sullivan of the city joined, enjoying the ceremony and hints of future gatherings.
The Tribune retracts and regrets publishing a signed article requested by Mr Dan Sullivan that later events show to have been loaded. The paper disclaims any reflection on Mr Jerry Kanaly and notes both men are well known locally.
Friends mourn the death of Mrs. W. C. O. Margrave after a Tuesday lamp explosion while she prepared a chicken burner. Her clothing was saturated with burning oil and she died within hours. She leaves two children and a husband.
A column urges merchants to train like baseball players for the season. It compares writing ads to throwing stickers and shelf goods, running between printing offices, judging stock like balls, and coaching customers to boost sales.
Alf Southard and wife disposed of their property on North Harlan Street after twenty eight years of occupancy. They sold to H C Smith for 2700. The couple plans an extended stay in Denver with their children and will visit their son Grant in Geneva Nebraska.
Mrs John Martin entertained the Young Married Ladies Kensington on Wednesday afternoon and Miss Banks hosted Friends in Council on Friday evening A delegate Sallie Schoenheit reported on the Federation of Women's Clubs meeting The social half hour featured refreshments.
Fred Brecht and his wife were surprised Tuesday evening as friends dropped in to toast their tenth wedding anniversary with an informal tinware shower. The self invited guests lingered until late, wishing the couple many more years of happiness together.
Mr and Mrs Al Burchard entertained many friends at their country home Saturday evening. A hack carried guests with Major Keeling as chaperon. Whist was played and refreshments by Mrs Burchard halted play for a splendid spread. Guests lingered past the Sabbath warning.
Mr and Mrs Albert Maust entertained the Midweek KX. Club on a Wednesday evening. The new social club provided an enjoyable gathering though its exact nature remained undisclosed.
C H Heineman canvassed Stone street property owners along three blocks from Wahl's store to the Union House and every owner agreed to share paving costs. The article urges collective effort to start the project in spite of past delays, noting strong community backing and Heineman's proactive role.

James Henry Cornell died at his home on Sunday April 26 1908 at age 63 after long illness from cancer. Born October 5 1845 in Fulton County Ohio he married Hannah Ann Patdorff in 1867 and moved to Nebraska about 27 years ago. He was active in the M E church the G A R and the Knights and Ladies of the Maccabees. Funeral was held April 28 at the Christian church with burial in Steele's Cemetery.
The junior class held a reception Friday evening for about 200 guests in the assembly room. The room was decoratively transformed with curtains and flowers. An program of music readings and addresses followed by light refreshments served on the downstairs tables formed like the class pin.
The Odd Fellows marked their 80th American anniversary with a family gathering of about 200. The program included music by an orchestra, addresses by John Hinton and Rev. R. Cooper Bailey, a closing ode, lodge prayer, recitation, and a lunch after the program. A presentation of a memento to A. E. Gantt was also noted amid a busy week for the order.
An alarm sent Wednesday sent the fire department on a long south town run to find a box burning beside Mr. Jackson's store used as a chicken coop. No damage occurred, and the crew viewed it as a good exercise.
State game warden George L. Carter and Nemaha Fishing Club members J. M. Jellison and Fred Warrington toured the Nemaha Creek from this city to Rule and found fifteen traps in operation along the banks and a wing trap at the mouth. They destroyed the gear and left Carter's card warning lawbreakers. The group says an appropriation from the last legislature will fund enforcement and warns the next patrol may be a roman hunt to seize traps.
Pateman Sisters offer bargain hats from 25c to 850c while A. K. Jaquet’s showcases a line of watches suitable as gifts. Shoppers are invited to call and see the display.
Lee Glasscock mails cash for a Tribune subscription this week and has the newspaper sent to Ann Darko Oklahoma, where he recently moved.
Miss Lottie Putnam now has a new piano in her home after installation Tuesday by Reavis and Abbey.
George Jennings lost his mustache at the start of the week and friends barely recognized him due to the marked change. The event is being noted as a striking personal transformation.
Hal Filton, now living in Florence Colorado, made a pleasant office call yesterday. He was in Beatrice for a time and could not resist visiting his old home and friends.
Henry Rieger and his relatives traveled from Preston to spend the weekend with his sister Mrs. Carrie Schaible. Rieger has been away since December 1 and is reported to be getting along fine, a fact his many friends will be glad to hear.
Thos Ryan of Dawson area offered a load of red shorthorn steers on the St Joseph market. Weighed 1155 pounds and brought 26.35 per hundred. Fed four months on corn and alfalfa. Market handled by Lee commission company. Richardson county noted as stock raising.

The high school band provided music at the Lyric theatre on Wednesday evening and drew crowds. they are improving rapidly and may soon perform with top groups. Mr and Mrs Mark Thomas returned to Frankfort Kansas after visiting their son RK Thomas and family in the city. Misses Mabel Lyford, Sarah Hutchins and Katie Heacock went to Lincoln Friday for a fraternity social and stayed to visit friends.
In reply to a telegram reporting the critical condition of her son-in-law John Nulk Mrs Jesse Morton left at once for his home in Muskogee Oklahoma. No new word on his condition had reached press time.
Rev Charles B E Hillis of Chicago begins evangelistic meetings at the Baptist church in Falls City starting Sunday morning and evening May 3 and continuing each evening except Monday. An invitation is extended to all.
The Board of Managers orders an auditorium of 4500 seats west of the Administration building on the hillside with a natural amphitheater. It will host Liberati's Grand Military Band and Concert company of 60, including 180 opera singers, performing Stabat Mater and grand operas, and will also accommodate national speakers for public use.
