Why Christ Rose From the Dead Sermon in Brooklyn
Pastor Russell of the Brooklyn Tabernacle preached at the Academy of Music to about twenty five hundred listeners. He argued that modern theories have divided Christianity into six hundred denominations and urged a return to Bible teaching on the soul’s resurrection. He contrasted biblical resurrection of the soul with the body and called for rejecting heathen philosophy and science falsely so called. He cited scripture from Paul and John and urged faith in Christ’s death and resurrection as the path to salvation and universal resurrection.
