For the week ending April 28 1912 Des Moines Iowa temperatures ran slightly below normal with cool nights and general frost including freezing on a night or two in northern counties. Precipitation was light through the period with showers on the 25th and rains on the 28th in southern and western sections. Seeding is nearly finished with early potatoes planted and much ground plowed for corn. Oats are up with good stands, grass improves and stock is in pasture. Cherries and plums begin to blossom in southern counties while buds in other areas are dormant or swelling. The spring pig crop suffered losses in March from cold wet weather but April pigs are thriving. George M Chappell Section Director.
