St Marys School closed with annual exercises marked by strong student recitals and plays. Highlights included a piano duet, a concerted welcome by primary pupils, a drama The Soul's Journey, and strong performances by Nellie Fitzgerald Ida Emory Nora Donovan and others. Attendance ranged 400 to 500. stage direction by Joseph F Murphy. Also report of a fatal freight train accident at Cujon City and a death in Panama. The largest country newspaper ad is the Dukinx Journal.
The Hotchkin Concert Company performed a medley of violin bells flute cornet zither and other pieces at City Hall and drew fair attendance. Solos were well done with a standout whistle act by Miss Anna. Receipts totaled 33.23 with 3 198 remaining after expenses benefiting St Johns Church Ladies Aid Society.
A Dunkirk police officer Joc Haycroft, with a warrant for William Callahan, was seen with him walking arm in arm on Fentile street at Serdock last evening as three officers arrested him. Police accompanied by Callahan joined a jubilant gathering at Mike Daley's bar on Elk and Fifth Streets. Citizens criticize the city for lacking police protection and blame city leaders.
The spring term led by Miss Marion Linghenburg of Sinclairville and assisted by Miss Jamie Eilis of Foresville will close with an entertainment next Saturday at the school-house. Town notes mention a wedding to come and several residents visiting.
