Henderson Says Blomberg Marriage Helped Precipitate War In Europe
London report cites Sir Nevile Henderson stating a Blomberg marriage in 1938 led to the purge of moderates from Hitler's circle and Hitler taking direct control. He argues this detached Hitler from advisers, pushing Germany toward war and expanding his dictatorship. He notes pacific sentiment among Germans during the Polish invasion and claims war instincts grew from economic strain and Nazi drift.

Farm Price Outlook Prompts Plan for Processing Taxes
Washington, Oct. 18. Farm leaders plan to seek congressional approval of processing taxes to fund subsidies as prices for major crops remain below wartime levels. Officials estimate next year may need 750 to 1000 million dollars for crop control and farm aid, with current subsidies around 1.6 billion. Only a surge in foreign demand or prices would avert higher appropriations, and President Roosevelt urged restraining soil payments without new taxes. Secretary Wallace favors re enactment of processing taxes.
