Efforts To Boost WPA Quota Fail

PIERRE Oct 18 Governor Bushfield relayed Rep Francis Case’s word that attempts to raise South Dakota’s WPA quota have failed. Fred R Rauch assistant WPA commissioner said maximum quotas are in place and an increase is unlikely. Only possible change would require withdrawing quota from another state. Rauch noted efforts align with private employment trends and adjustments as warranted. Bushfield also expected emergency drought area classifications for Bon Homme and Aurora counties to secure Farm Security Administration grants.
