Two Homestake Miners Die In Shaft Accident
Lead, Oct 18 Two Homestake miners George Sternhagen 45 and Vernon Moorhead 40 were killed instantly after plunging 300 feet from the 1700-foot level in the new Yates shaft at the Home Stake gold mine. There were no eye witnesses and officials plan an investigation. The Yates shaft, under construction, will be a mile deep to replace the Ellison shaft. Sternhagen left a widow and three daughters Moorhead a widow with three sons three daughters and several relatives.
