Farmer B A Lounsbury north of Huron credits strip cropping with saving 60 of 100 acres in 1937 when wind erosion struck, and says 1938 yielded no losses. Bernard Olson of Wessington Springs notes better growth and greener crops after contour farming as part of the five point conservation program.
E. C. Musser pioneer Highmore resident died last Saturday in Great Falls Montana. He and his wife had moved three years ago to live with daughter Gladys Musser Midkitt and husband. Mrs. Musser died about a year earlier. Funeral services were held in Great Falls and burial there. Attending conventions and reunions across multiple towns and states were noted in separate briefs.
Mary Frances Rollins colored a Boots page in the Evening Huronite comic section to win the sweepstake prize. Other winners listed include Lloyd Larghe Esther Erickson Jack Kennedy Junior King and several more with entries due by 5 o clock Wednesday. Participants could attend the theatre show for free by submitting names.
Wayland. November 23. Mrs. Barney Paulsen and Mrs. Alex Bowen demonstrated Christmas crafts at a Happy Hour Extension Club meeting held Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Minnie Schilling. Reports on a Brookings trip during Farm and Home Week were given and plans made for the club Christmas party at Mrs. Helen McGuire’s home on December 8. Hostess and Mrs. Otto served refreshments.
Mr and Mrs Arthur Schroeder entertained the Pitch Club at their home on Tuesday night. Lunch was served at a late hour by the hostess assisted by Johanna Schroeder and Dorothy Hichert.
Dispatches report Mrs Paul Evans returned to Alpena on Tuesday evening after visiting her parents Mr and Mrs T A Hayes. In Wolsey Gerhardt Erion a student at Eastern Normal Madison spent the past week with his parents Mr and Mrs Walter Erion.
Mrs Alvina Boldt is undergoing medical treatment in a Huron hospital this week after being taken there on Sunday.

In St Paul Eric Henson reports theft from a vacant house including windows doors wiring fixtures and brick.
In Eugene Oregon an 11 year old pulled a hoax fire alarm to impress a friend with his father’s firefighting job. The incident followed a heat event and left the boy with only the lot he has. The father is a firefighter.
Ten November birthdays were celebrated at a surprise party hosted by Mrs. Hubert Jungemann. Honorees included Mrs. Robert Jungemann, Mrs. August Kahre, Mrs. Carl Jungemann, and Richard, Arnold, Joan, Gloria, Marvin, Harley, Jerald Jungemann. About 56 guests attended. The evening featured Chinese checkers, cards, and visiting, with lunch served late.
