W T Girton former South Dakota game and fish director was arraigned in Custer on a misdemeanor charge of hunting deer without a license. The resignation came amid an ongoing department investigation with Gov Bushfield denying any involvement in personnel changes.

Abductor Jailed Three Years In Wilma Melven Case

Frank Mitchell of Charlotte pled guilty to abducting 15 year old Wilma Melven from Huron and taking her to Texas in violation of the Mann Act. He received a three year sentence at Leavenworth with possible rape charges pending after his term. Mitchell was indicted by a federal grand jury in Aberdeen after being located near McKinney Texas following the September incident at the Huron State Fair.

Miller Man Fined For Illegal Hauling

William Spicer a Miller area trucker was fined 25 dollars and ordered to pay about 10 dollars in costs after being found guilty of operating a truck without proper speed and license from the Public Utilities Commission. The complaint was signed by A N Job Huron of the Public Utilities Commission.
