Accused Kidnapper Dies After Shootout in Hotel Room

In Topeka, Kansas, an accused kidnapper shot himself after a gun battle with Detective F. L. Thompson. The man, later identified as A. L. Morford by pockets, died hours after being wounded during a tear gas assault. Floyd C. Wadden, Davenport Iowa, claimed the suspect abducted him while delivering a car and forced a 540 mile drive through Missouri and Kansas, stopping at Monroe and Des Moines, Iowa and Indianola, Iowa.

Declam Contest Shines For Gettysburg District Winners

Gettysburg district declamatory contest held at the high school saw Onida Loyalton and Gettysburg students win major honors. Superior ratings went to Edward Walkton of Loyalton for oratory Rollene Swift of Gettysburg and Marie Malone of Loyalton for poetry Bernice Hardwick of Onida and Marie Durstein for drama. Prof P J Harkness of Northern State Teachers College judged.

Food strike ends at Falsom Prison

Folsom California November 23 A food strike involving about 900 prisoners ended today after most inmates accepted the Thanksgiving Day menu of roast and fried pork. About 850 ate the meal while 50 remained in solitary confinement as leaders of the protest were identified by officials.

Indianola Iowa visitors Miss Margaret and Elizabeth Wadsworth arrived to visit cousins Miss Mildred Thompson of Huron and Frank Thompson of Wolsey. Robert Thompson, son of Frank Thompson, a Simpson College student, accompanied them. Mrs Frances Seemann returned from Miles City and Billings Montana after visiting her daughter Velma Seeman and attending funeral services in Billings for her grandson Dennis Robert Seemann.
