Fred Smith To Deliver Platte Grads Address
Platte May 5 Special Fred BR Smith state superintendent of banks Platte high school's first graduate will deliver the graduation address to a class of 36 on Tuesday evening Mar 27 in the Platte school auditorium. Smith has given the production address at Platte each year for ten years. The annual baccalaureate sermon will be by Rev Fr J J Rowan May 25. The class is the second largest in the school's history.

Many Tractors Used Around Chamberlain
May 5 report from Chamberlain says tractors are working across western South Dakota west of the Missouri river. Hundreds of tractors break new land planned for thousands of acres this season. Much of the new land will be sown to flax and aligns with the Federal Farm Board’s push to reduce wheat acreage and expand crops other than wheat.
