Oleo Tax Saves Million A Day
Major farm groups say the Brigham Townsend bill will save agriculture about 1 million dollars daily by taxing oleomargarine at ten cents per pound while uncolored butter substitutes stay taxed differently. The measure passed late in the seventy first congress and takes effect in June, aiming to narrow the price advantage of cheaper margarine over butter amid broader farm legislation debates.
