At Stratton Colorado nine bodies were pulled from the wreckage of a Chicago Rock Island and Pacific passenger train that plunged through a flood weakened bridge into an arroyo. Over 100 passengers were aboard and many were injured. Engineer M W Ryan reported the bridge gave way as the rear baggage car passed.

Boys Escape As Car Is Burned Near Huron
A large sedan owned by J A Bloedorn Chicago and North Western engineer burned after going off a road three miles south of Huron. Driver Irwin Keeler 17 and Ralph Dorsel escaped with minor injuries after the vehicle rolled into a ditch and caught fire following a glare from oncoming lights.

Howard Farmer William Hummel Rites Held in Rock Creek Parish
William Hummel 66 a Howard area farmer died Wednesday from stomach cancer at his home. Services were held at Rock Creek church with burial in Graceland cemetery. He lived in Rock Creek 30 years primarily, except 1919 to 1922 in Mitchell, Illinois. Survived by wife and five children Roy Eva Hazel Paul and Mrs Willard, all in Rock Creek.
