The South Dakota Chamber of Commerce backed federal action to open the Missouri River for navigation. A resolution endorsing a bond issue of 50,000,005 was adopted at the annual meeting. A. C. Hunt of Rapid City was elected president, first west-of-Missouri-river leader of the chamber. E. H. Sexaver was re elected vice president with Lusk and Heaton reappointed as officers.

Dies of double pneumonia at Huron hospital
A Platts farm loan agent died today at a Huron hospital after a week ill with double pneumonia. Born in Vermont June 21 1968 he moved from Water town to Huron nine years ago and had lived at 464 Colorado Ave SW. Survived by his daughter Mrs. Carlisle and two grandchildren. Funeral arrangements not yet made.

Chicago January 21 A distraught wife confronted her estranged husband Andrew Lebeduck who returned home last night to threats of arrest for non support He ran toward the street pursued by a woman firing a pistol Each shot prompted him to cry out I am shot He collapsed on the sidewalk and begged for a hospital no wounds were found The wife Mrs Parashe Lebchuck said a warrant was out for him and that she loaded the pistol with blanks saying he might have died without it In the end police found the tale puzzling and no hospital visit occurred

Neuharth to Begin Four Day Jail Term Tomorrow
Neuharth pled guilty to possession of intoxicating liquor and was ordered to report to Beadle county jail to serve a four day term. He received a $250 fine and plans to move his family to the poor farm. The sentence was imposed by Circuit Judge Alva Taylor after a farm arrest near Huron where a still and quantities of liquor were seized.
