Nisland Buildings Destroyed By Fire
Fire of unknown origin destroyed three Nisland buildings near the Belle Fourche irrigation project. Damage estimated at 15000 dollars. The blaze originated in a lean-to of the old Wadsworth building, housing two families who lost all goods. Wind fed flames to a filling station and garage owned by H G McBann and to a nearby residence owned by L W Vanderwarke, with McKean family living quarters also ruined. Belle Fourche Vale Newell crews aided by farmers fought the fire, a bucket brigade formed, and embers started smaller fires as the crater supply ran low.
