Proposals and changes in the New Pro golf committee

A. A. Chamberlain remained president. Clyde R. Smith was reappointed chair of the golf and tournament committee and authorized to interview applicants for the club pro position. Three candidates are under consideration with a selection next season. Ground and other committees were restructured by President Fallinweider, with Gus Jacobson chairing grounds and other groups led by Motty, Chamber, Saylor, and Colton among others.

Sunday Memorial Day Observance By Huron Elks

The Huron Elks lodge and hundreds of Elks units will close amusement rooms and suspend activities tomorrow afternoon to honor departed members. Memorial services are held on the first Sunday in December with 2 p.m. ceremonies at lodge rooms conducted by Rev. Wallace Bristol of Grace Episcopal Church. Music is arranged by Prof. Lee Bright of Huron College.

Howard Store To Give Proceeds For Charity

The Howard K and K company store will donate ten percent of its gross sale proceeds on December 10 to the local relief organization. Max Christensen, the store’s local manager, announced the charity contribution from the company chain, which runs two stores in the area.

Court To Convene At De Smet Monday

Circuit court will convene here Monday with a light calendar of three criminal and nine civil cases. Several may not go to trial. Among criminal matters are liquor sale, driving while intoxicated, and writing bogus checks, the latter despite a recent supreme court decision.

Two Piano Recital by Truran and Lokken at USD

In Vermillion on Sunday afternoon December six at 4 o'clock Genevieve Truran and Ella Lokken instructors in piano at the College of Fine Arts University of South Dakota will present a two piano recital in Siagle auditorium. The program divided into three parts opens with Sicilienne and variations by Bach Maier Haydn Brahms and Grieg Auf den Eegen. The second part features Debussy Ballet En Bateau and Saint Saens Danse Macabre. Concluding numbers include Arenaky Waltz and Ro dance from Bizet and Valse- Caprice by Strauss Philipp.

Miller School Drops Christmas Program This Year

Miller school will not stage its Christmas program before holidays. A union service is planned at the city auditorium on December 15 with high school talent contributing. Rhodes scholars hopefuls named from South Dakota

Seven candidates for Rhodes scholarships were examined in Mitchell by the South Dakota selection committee. Harold Lamb and Walter Nelson of Huron college were chosen to represent the state, with two advancing to Des Moines for the regional final.

Return from Montana Raymond visiting EB Erling home

Mr and Mrs H Erling and son passed through Raymond this week visiting at the EB F Erling home on their way to South Shore and Sioux Falls. They had worked with a construction company near Deer Lodge Montana on a graveling contract. They reported snow along the trip. Elmer Erling joined them to South Shore and Sioux Falls then planned to return to Raymond to run a filling station. He had just returned from Deer Lodge where he was employed by the same company.

Miss Sadie Owens of Huron has moved to San Diego, California, where she is living with her sister Hannah Owens. The move marks the first meeting of the sisters in ten years after Sadie arrived on the coast.
