In Montana a 585 foot high chimney forms from the process with 111 miles of chains and fumes from a copper plant. Frederick G. Cottrell, head of the U S Bureau of Mines, popularized the method. Experts say cement kilns and iron furnaces dust may yield cheap potash via filtration, with one cement company reportedly earning about $6000 weekly.
