Ely Record reports Illipah Basin Oil and Gas Company advancing in its drilling effort with the well down 450 feet. Softer lighter formation, oil-filled vug holes indicate oil exists in the lime formation and bode well for deeper operations. The company secured a county grader to improve access from Hamilton road and added a 60 barrel water tank to move water from Ili pah creek to the drilling site, positioning them for uninterrupted work despite recent regulatory rulings.

Second class rates will not be raised
Washington reports the House post office committee favors a one year postponement of the planned two percent increases in second class mail rates and extends current rates until June 30, 1921. The report notes 50 percent rise on reading matter and 150 percent on advertising, warns total rises could reach 200 percent if all increases take effect, and argues publishers may be forced out of business by high print paper costs.
