A large Saturday meeting at the Bayas Theatre drew 189 attendees as Eureka County initiates a democratic chamber to develop local resources. Leaders outlined a plan for membership drives, director elections, and a broad survey of mining and agricultural potential to attract investors and improve the Lincoln Highway corridor.

Death of Mrs Nancy Plumstead a Maine matron

Mrs I C C Whitmores mother Nancy Plumstead who died at 91 in Wiscasset Maine after a long life of service left ten children eight surviving. The state mourns a noble woman and the community extends sympathy to Mrs Whitmore on the loss of a sacred mother figure.

Commission Proceedings Reported for Eureka County 1921

The March regular meeting of the Eureka County Board of Commissioners featured officers sworn in, bonds approved for Public Administrator C W Ruden and County Surveyor Clarence Johnson, and constable Walter Hawkins. The board reviewed finances, recognized bank deposits surpassing the Auditor’s balance, and ordered notice on a fire plug at Main and Bateman Streets. A Eureka petition urged plug installation. the board deferred jurisdiction to the Water Company and cited Fire Protection Act sections.

Eureka Nevada Railroad led by J B Sexton earns broad attention in San Francisco Chronicles with a profile of its new 31 foot gasoline motor car. The 16 000 pound, 12 passenger and two ton freight vehicle, built by Sexton, features marine engine tech and modern conveniences, linking Eureka and Palisade Nevada. Sexton, a Nevada mining figure, splits time between Eureka and the Palace Hotel in San Francisco.

EURENA MINING REPORTS HIGH GRADE ORE GROWTH

District Court Suits and San Francisco Water Vote

District Court suit filed by Jack Burns against Eureka-Holly Mining for 15000 damages over an obstructed highway caused by an overhead oil pipeline contact with Burns’s car. Also Salt suit by Eureka-Croesus Mining against H Kennedy for 453.38 freight charges on a defective 100 hp air compressor. San Francisco vote on Spring Valley Water Works purchase failed with 12000 majority but required two thirds. total 74079 votes. State tax details show various district and county funds with specified rates and no levy for State Tax.

High School Notes Report on Annual Paper Prospects

Editor Julia Hildebrand reported to the student body that the annual paper has brighter prospects due to a lower bid from another printer and substantial advertising. Students voted to hold a fundraiser on Friday April 1 unless it conflicts with cantata plans by lower school grades.
