The railway sent a carload of coal to A. & Porch for distribution in Bureks easing fears of a fuel shortage. More coal is expected to follow, signaling relief for workers and their friends who had feared shortages and accused idle labor themesires.

Death of Eureka's oldest resident James White

James White, Eureka's oldest resident, died Wednesday after a long gradual decline. Born on the Isle of Man, he claimed to be 102 years old, worked as a teamster and miner, and more recently helped with road and street work. He sailed in youth, traveled coastal ports, and came to Nevada during the mining boom, settling in Eureka where he stayed until his death among pioneer residents.

The Eureka Theatre airs December 21 with Norma Talmadge in The Heart of Verona. December 24 features The One Woman with Clara Williams for 15 and 50 cents, doors at 7:30, and a private party afterward. Christmas Tree Events At Two Eureka Churches

The Episcopal Sunday School will hold a Christmas tree and short program at the church Tuesday December 23 at 7 30 PM. A Christmas tree with songs and recitations by the Sunday School will follow at the Presbyterian church Christmas Eve at 7 PM. Parents and friends are invited to both events. Donations of gifts for children are welcome and will be distributed by Santa Claus.

Eureka Groesus Open High Grade Ores Deepen Richer

Supt Julius Huebner reports a new winze on the 200 foot level strikes ore 45 feet below and finds high grade larger and richer than above. Drift past the fault to open a large body of high grade ore. Ore shipping prospects improve with profits depending on silica content. Jinksville mining shows extended drifts north and south with continuous high grade ore. A raise started to be stoped and drifts to open new ground. Home Ticket fissure shows very high grade ore in boulders, indicating ore above the fissure. X winze at 400 level discontinued until Catlin shaft advances. In the north 400 level, three faces of ore run high grade shipping ore with assays from $87 to $498 per ton. A small streak near the range being connected to the old Dunderberg workings shows similar grade awaiting assays.

Eureka King Co Starts Work In Two Tunnels

Prospect Mountain Tunnel underway this week with two shifts aiming to advance 1000 feet this winter. The tunnel will reach 1500 feet below the surface and 2400 feet into the hill, opening new mineral-rich territory as the lime belt lies ahead. Eureka Tunnel engine room complete and buildings rushed before winter storms hinder supplies.

Salt Lake smelter settlements list silver at 1.34 per ounce and lead at 7.12. Arthur G. Raycraft arranged wireless telegraph service between Arrowhead and Tonopah to be installed within thirty days. Message rates start at 50 cents for long messages. Tonopah Times notes annual subscription at 2 dollars in advance.

Eureka Nevada Mining Co prepares new machinery installation

D States, Eureka Nevada Mining Co superintendent, told Sanitel this week that development at the Eureka Croesus and Hamburg mines proceeds well. The Liberty tunnel will be extended 1000 feet to reach deeper ore, with six drill compressors and new equipment on site. Officers include W J Robinson president, William Storey Jr vice president, W C Albertson secretary treasurer, A G Burrit consulting engineer, and D States superintendent.

Death of William Matson Pioneer Resident of Hamilton

William Matson a pioneer of White Pine County died December 11 1919 after an illness in San Francisco where he and his wife were wintering for health reasons. Born in Sweden 72 years ago he lived in Hamilton since 1860s working as engineer at water works and later freighter hauling ore. Survived by wife two brothers in Washington and children Minnie Paulson Lizzie McKay Emma Schaefer Neva Rose Ruth Evelyn and C A Matson. Funeral held in San Francisco with final interment at Petaluma California. Many friends mourn his loss.
