A large Oberlin gathering hosted Gov. Nash of Ohio and Gov. Shaw of Iowa. Nash argued the GOP saved state finances by cutting costs and boosting revenues. A 12 year old, Jennet Merrith Stetson, was badly injured by a horse kick while helping hitch a bogey.

He served as president of the Music Teachers National Association and directed the conservatory and Second Church choir for decades. Dr Turney to conduct services at Oberlin with a funeral hymn by the Second Church choir. only his wife to attend.
